Charm Life germinated in June 2025, on a wooden back porch where Leske Tompkins and his wife Stephanie (Wish Awake) belted out our eventual theme song to no particular anybody, while the main party at Backbone Mt Farm raged nearby. I retired from medical practice a week later, and increased my part time hours at The Charm Farm Market & Butcher. In the year prior, working one day a week, I came to appreciate the richness of the farm(ers), its market, and their customers. Charm Life’s mission then, was to harvest our community garden, and share widely!
‘Hillbilly Graham’ is homage to legendary SF/NY 60s era rock promoter, Bill Graham. And to my Grandmother, Idelene Hinkle, who conjured and promoted the Hillbilly Hundred dirt track event in the late 60s/70s in Ritchie County, WV. When launching my own charity music events in the 2000s, “Hillbilly Graham Presents” was born.
